Davis' News

13 July 2009
I start teaching a new section of Media Criticism at Brooklyn College today. I am really looking forward to a great summer semester.
12 July 2009
Today is a pretty big day for me. After nearly a year and a half of dislocation, all the big pieces of my office are in place and I can really work again. There are lots of little things left to do, and a lot of my time is dedicated to providing post-surgical care to my partner, Joan, but I'm looking forward to doing a lot of good work here.
11 July 2009
My son Sam, a professional musician in Portland, OR, plays regularly with several different groups. You can find song samples and information about his upcoming dates on his web site: http://sam.foulger.info.
23 June 2009
Joan's second surgery for lung cancer went very well. You can find details of the operation and her full treatment at http://fyberspace.biz/joan/.
23 June 2009
The Media Ecology Association meeting went very well. The paper I presented there was very well received. I'll be posting it soon. Watch this space.
18 June 2009
I'm presently in St. Louis for the annual conference of the Media Ecology Association. I give a competitively selected presentation in the morning on nonverbal communication in online media. I hope to post it online soon. I drove out from New York on Tuesday and spent Wednesday visiting ancient native American constructions in West Virginia and Ohio (Adema and Hopewell cultures). For me, at any rate, fascinating stuff. These are places I've been planning to visit for years. It was nice being able to fit it in. I return to New York Sunday (expect to arrive Monday). Joan has her next cancer surgery on Tuesday, June 23.
